Mark and Joanne Darby,
some of worlds most experienced Ashtanga yoga
practitioners and highly respected teachers are
presenting a weekend workshop in Cologne. Both are
certified by Sri. K. Patthabi Jois and holding over 30
years of experience. This is a wonderful possibility to
dive into their combined knowledge of the Ashtanga yoga
method.
Asanas must be perfected by careful training. The aim is
to achieve an effortless alertness in which the body is
perfectly steady and yet perfectly relaxed.
Mark and Joanne
Darby will share their
knowledge of how to keep the practice energetic but soft
by allowing the right energy to flow while in the
postures.
This workshop is highly
recommended for all students, beginners as well as
teachers and aspiring teachers wishing to deepen their
understanding of yoga based on the Ashtanga method.
Darby und Joanne
praktizieren seit über 28 Jahren Ashtanga Yoga. Sie
haben 1979 bei Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Indien mit dem
Yoga begonnen und haben lange in Indien gelebt und viel
Zeit dort verbracht um von ihrem Guru zu lernen.
Beide
sind certified by S.K.P. Jois.
Diese Auszeichnung haben
nur ca. 30 Lehrer auf der ganzen Welt.
Darby unterrichtet Ashtanga Yoga in dieser Tradition
seit vielen Jahren weltweit.

Content of the workshop
will be:
Learn how to move with
your body instead of against it. By going with your
body’s natural alignment the prana will flow through you
without blocks stopping it.
Introduction to
Astanga & Principles of breath and movements - Breath,
Vinyasa, Bandha & posture
Bandha , Drishti &
Vinyasa
In this workshop you
will locate your locks and move into your breath to free
your practice.
One of the challenges
of the Ashtanga flow is the vinyasa. Breaking the
vinyasa down into its components, we will look at ways
in which we can work towards achieving the float back
and float through by combining various techniques with
breath, bandha, foundation, alignment and Drishti. With
these under control, anything can become
possible!
There will be
a Led primary:
You will be
guided in a continuous flow along all of the way from
the opening sun salutations to the closing sequence. You
will create a heightened sense of awareness through
breath and asanas.
Exploring the
core of selected First- and Second Series postures
Chakra
Chanting + Principles of Pranayama:
Sound has
incredible power to influence the mind and body! The
particular sounds given for chakra cleanising are those
that energize each of the psychic centers respectively.
Open up, chant, experience a room full of resonating
sound and leave invigorated!
‘The ashtanga
yoga practice is a breathing practice ... the rest is
just bending’ - Guruji.
We will explore the principles of
pranayama to help your body open, your mind to settle
into one-pointed focus and to free your body.
